Anthony Brindisi
Visiting Professor of Government
Judge Anthony Brindisi joins Hamilton College to teach a course offering an insider’s view of lawmaking and judging, drawing on experience as a former member of Congress and a sitting federal judge. He serves as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of New York, nominated by President Joseph Biden and confirmed in December 2024, and is one of few former members of Congress appointed to the federal judiciary in the past two decades. Brindisi represented New York’s 22nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021, serving on the House Armed Services, Agriculture, and Veterans’ Affairs Committees, and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2018. Before entering public office, he built a distinguished career in private practice specializing in civil litigation. A Utica native, he earned degrees from Siena College and Albany Law School.
