Jon Garland is a member of the Symphoria Horn section and its board of trustees. He was assistant principal horn of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra since 1997. He attended the Julliard School, the Mannes College of Music, and the Aspen Music Festival, where he was a fellowship recipient. His major teachers included Philip Myers, Ranier DeIntinis, John Cerminaro, and Larry Johnson.

In addition to his duties in Syracuse, Garland  has performed with the Honolulu Symphony, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic, the Harrisburg and Seattle Symphony Orchestras. He joined the faculty of the Syracuse University Setnor School of Music in 2002. In addition to performing, he serves on the faculty of the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University and Hamilton College.
