Katie Martins
Lecturer in Music (Oboe)
Katie Garringer Martins is thrilled to join the music faculty as lecturer of music in Oboe. Katie has enjoyed a varied music career thus far, having played with regional orchestras, opera companies and chamber music groups across the Midwest and New York state. She is also a singer/songwriter, has toured around the U.S., and made a full length record of original music called "That's Where You'd Go With Me" during her time living in New York City. She holds a master's degree in Oboe Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor's degree in Oboe Performance from Ball State University. Katie was an invited participant to the Global Musician's Workshop hosted by Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble in the summers of 2015 and 2017, where she played oboe and sang in various groups. She currently resides with her husband and son (#2 son coming soon) in Cazenovia and enjoys life as a freelance oboist, teacher and reedmaker.
