  • On Thursday September 20, members of the Hamilton College community are invited to join together to speak out against racism and retaliatory military strikes in response to the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The speak-out is in solidarity with more than 130 colleges and universities from across the nation, which will hold similar actions. It will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Martin's Way on the Hamilton campus.

  • The Performing Arts at Hamilton will present a special performance with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, featuring guest violinist Pip Clark on Sunday, September 23 at 3 p.m. A special pre-concert talk by Syracuse Symphony musical director Daniel Hege and Pip Clark will be held at 2 p.m. As a response to the events of last week, the symphony has changed its concert program. The new program will include Barber's Adagio, Korngold's Violin Concerto, and Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

  • The Campus Activities Board has announced that the Counting Crows concert scheduled for October 26 has been cancelled, along with 11 others. The band's web site attributes the cancellations to concerns with travel and changes in their recording schedule.

  • Gamma Xi sorority spearheaded a collection drive for the Utica chapter of the American Red Cross relief effort that raised $2750. Thank you to the sisters of Gamma Xi and members of the Hamilton community who made a contribution.

  • President Bush has declared today, Friday, September 14, as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the victims of the terrorist attacks on Monday. Hamilton will join in this national observance with a noontime memorial service in the Chapel.

  • Please join the Department of Music for a Faculty Recital tonight, Friday, (9/14) at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall. Piano, voice, harp, strings and more. Reception to follow in Schambach 108. Free and open to the public.

  • We are encouraging our students to take advantage of the Blood Drive on campus September 25, which is being sponsored by the Inter-Society Council. The Red Cross strongly encourages you to make an appointment because they have a specified number of technicians at the drive and may not be able to accommodate walk-ins. ISC will have sign-up tables in Beinecke next week, Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Sept. 21.

  • Hamilton College will host a campuswide open forum tonight, Thursday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Chapel, titled "Terrorism: Thinking About the Attack on the U.S." Faculty panelists will include Shoshana Keller, history; Yael Aronoff, government; Ann Owen and Tolga Koker, economics; and Russell Blackwood, religious studies. This is not a public event and is open to members of the Hamilton community.
