  • Students and faculty will read The Vagina Monologues on Valentine's Day, as part of the nationwide V-Day College Initiative. This year Hamilton is one of 265 colleges and universities participating. The reading will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn.

  • Hamilton economics professors Ann Owen and Elizabeth Jensen have been studying why far fewer women than men choose to major in economics. Results of their survey are featured in an article in The Boston Globe (2/4/01).

  • The Continentals' men's basketball team hosts the Panthers of Middlebury College tonight (2/6) at 8 p.m. in the Margaret Bundy Scott Fieldhouse. The Continentals head into tonight's game riding a four-game winning streak, while the Panthers are looking to rebound after a heartbreaking loss at Wesleyan.

  • Vivyan Adair, assistant professor of women's studies and co-director of the ACCESS Project at Hamilton College, was interviewed for a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article about programs that allows young mothers to go to college.

  • Hamilton College Philosophy Professor Robert Simon was interviewed for a Christian Science Monitor article (2/2)about violence in the XFL football league, which was created by the founder of the World Wrestling Federation.

  • Hamilton College will celebrate Black History Month with a variety of activities. The film GLORY will be shown on Feb. 17th (7 p.m.) and Feb. 18th (9 p.m.) in the Red Pit, sponsored by BLSU. Watch the Hamilton news/events page for more events throughout the month.

  • Professor Julio-César Santoyo, Catedrático de Estudios de Traducción at the Universidad de León (Spain) and former rector of that university, will be on campus on Monday, Feb. 5, to give a talk (in Spanish) titled "Traducir lo imposible: De Muñoz Seca a García Lorca." Red Pit at 4:30 p.m.

  • The Pat McGee Band will perform at Hamilton on Friday, Feb. 2, at 9 p.m. in the Annex. Tickets, which are FREE with a Hamilton I.D., will be available at 4 p.m. on Friday in the ANNEX.
