Louis Dzialo ’19 has known for quite some time what career path he wanted to follow and he’s done everything he can to gain the skills and knowledge to get there. Now the recent graduate has taken the next step toward a future in museum education with an internship at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Eight Hamilton students with career interests in the health professions fields are taking part in a volunteer immersion program for undergraduates through Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.

Six faculty members were approved for tenure by Hamilton’s Board of Trustees during a recent meeting. The board awarded tenure to Katherine Brown (physics), Courtney Gibbons (mathematics), Gbemende Johnson (government), Alexandra List (psychology), Max Majireck (chemistry), and Seth Schermerhorn (religious studies).

Forty members of the Class of 2023 began getting a head start on college when they arrived on June 30 for the Opportunity Programs intensive academic college transition program.

Meredith Jones ’19 and Jasmine Murray ’19 received the FAO Schwarz Fellowship, a highly selective paid two-year Fellowship in Social Impact. The Fellowship includes a paid position with a leading nonprofit, personalized mentoring, and extensive professional development experiences.

The perfect June weather was only one contributing factor to a terrific Reunions 2019, as alumni and friends reunited and reminisced.

In his address at Hamilton’s commencement, Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, advised graduates to “keep asking the hard questions and keep thinking of things we’ve not thought about – about social justice and inequality and seeking the truth.”

“He is the type of student that comes along very rarely in a professor’s career, someone who, in a quiet way, demonstrates exactly what I hold to be ‘the highest ideals of the College.’”

Micaela Rostov ’19 has been awarded a Fulbright Binational Internship to Mexico, making her part of an effort to create mutual understanding between the private sectors in Mexico and the United States.
