  • The Hamilton College Choir is on the road for its annual spring break tour, this year opening in Rochester, N.Y., then heading to five cities in the Midwest. The 51-member choir is directed by G. Roberts Kolb, professor of music and director of choral music at Hamilton since 1981.

  • American entrepreneur Peter Thiel, co-founder of  worldwide online payments system PayPal, will deliver the Commencement address at Hamilton College on Sunday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.

  • The 19th annual America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk drew 77 Hamilton College walkers and runners on Saturday, March 5, in Utica.  This year’s donations are still being counted, but thus far Team Hamilton has raised $3,914 for the American Heart Association.

  • Five students were awarded prizes in three categories in the annual Public Speaking Competition on Saturday, March 5, in the Chapel. The finalists were chosen after an open preliminary round held in February. Speakers’ presentations were either persuasive or informative in nature, and in one category students were asked to address an assigned topic.

  • The Hamilton community this week welcomed Everson Hull, ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Organization of American States, to meet with students and faculty involved with the upcoming spring break service trip to the island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. The trip will be led by a Hamilton student service organization with support from Amy James and the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP).

  • Five Hamilton students travelled to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire on Feb. 20 to attend the 43rd annual Northeast Regional Latino Medical Student Association Conference. Tatenda Chakoma ’18, Daniela Gonzalez ’19, Emma Weller ’19, Alex Kaplan ’16 and Bryan Ferguson ’17 attended the conference which was focused on addressing the healthcare needs of the Hispanic/Latino community.

  • Jazz critic, author and broadcast journalist Greg Thomas ’85 returned to campus on Feb. 18 to present  “Albert Murray and the Blues Idiom Worldview.” The event was in celebration of Black History Month and the 100th birthday of author and jazz critic Albert Murray.

  • Hamilton’s Powder Club took 38 students to Killington, Vt., in January for a three-night ski trip. Killington is home to some of the East Coast's finest skiing and snowboarding terrain.

  • Jared Mandelbaum ’18, Mr. HOC, was the victor in the annual Mr. Hamilton competition, held on Feb. 17 as part of FebFest. He prevailed over Mr. Track, Colin Horgan ’19, Mr. Psi U, Alan Yecies ’17, Mr. Philanthropy Committee, Jose Olivares ’16, Mr. Culinary Society, Thomas Hoffman ’16, Mr. HAVOC, Alan Yeh ’18 and Mr. Buffers, Sean Rose ’19.
