The Career Center’s 4th round of HamiltonExplore provided 120 underclassmen the opportunity to explore career interests during winter break.  The shadowing program is designed to assist sophomore students with career exploration and decision making by offering the opportunity to “shadow” (observe) a Hamilton alumnus/a or parent in the workplace for a day or part of a day.

Hamilton College will host the first New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium (NY6) Spectrum Conference for LGBTQA students, faculty and staff on Feb. 22-23 on campus. 

Hamilton will honor the leadership legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by bringing student leaders back to campus the day before classes begin to take part in the second annual MLK Student Leadership Day on Monday, Jan. 20.

Katie Jickling ’15 was awarded  “Best Rookie Reporter” by the Vermont Press Association for her reporting work at the weekly newspaper, The Herald of Randolph, Vt.

Twenty-five Hamilton students returned to campus 10 days before the spring semester begins to participate in the third Levitt Leadership Institute (LLI).  The program was designed and is led by Ambassador Prudence Bushnell with the assistance of Christine Powers and is intended to provide  leadership training for students. The LLI was made possible by the financial support of Arthur Levitt, Jr. P '81, and the Norman and Rosita Winston Foundation.

Hamilton’s curling team is back in action with 20 members competing this season under captain Meghan Doherty '14 and president Trevor Howe ’14. The team’s season began in October and will continue until March.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Great Names visit to Hamilton in October  drew a great deal of interest from local – and national – media during 2013. Student research and volunteering garnered significant local attention, and faculty members and administrators offered expertise on timely news topics throughout the year.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Government Calin Trenkov-Wermuth ’00 took his United Nations and Global Security (GOV 388) class to the United Nations headquarters in New York in December.

The Hamilton College Arboretum Association will present free workshops in January through May on the Hamilton campus. These events are free, open to the public and sponsored by the College and its Arboretum Association. Everyone interested in gardens and landscapes is encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required.  All workshops will take place from 10 a.m.  to noon in the Kennedy Auditorium, Taylor Science Center (GO27), unless otherwise noted.

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, of which Hamilton College is a member, has received a three-year $1.25 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support an international initiative aimed at strengthening global education.  Other New York Six members are Colgate University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Skidmore College and Union College.
