Joaquin Pacheco Criado ’23 regularly dedicates himself to using his skills to help others, so it comes as no surprise that he would fill his summer schedule with two internships focused on aiding various communities. Interning for both MAB Learning Coach and Manna Project International, Pacheco Criado spends most of his days working to provide financial and education services to the public.

Ryan Dilello ’21 is interning this summer with Rhode Island Public Radio. Here he talks about what he’s doing, what he’s learned, and the joys of storytelling.

Accepted to the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry during the fall of her junior year, Acacia Bowden ’20 has been waiting to begin med school classes for almost two years. Actually, she’s been waiting to attend medical school ever since she was in elementary school.

When Joshua Caplan ’21 applied to an internship with PTC, a computer software and services company, he was clear about what he wanted to get out of the experience. “I told them that I was looking to grow, I wanted to be around smart, curious people, and I wanted to be in an internship where I had a lot to learn,” he said.

During one of their trips to a thrift shop, Sammy Johnson ’20 and Chad Varney ’22 had an idea that would become an upcycled clothing company they called Upcurl.

Fresh from graduation, Michelle Chung ’20 began an extensive job search and, having previously interned for Penguin Random House, knew that she had an interest in publishing. After identifying an opening with Simon & Schuster, a top publishing company based in New York City, she reached out to Brian Belfiglio ’90.

“I haven’t had the chance to get stuck knee-deep in the mud before.” Hamilton summer internship funding helps give students a variety of experiences which, for Robbie Rioux ’21, includes spending some time in the mud.

At the Brookings Institution, intern Samuel Alderson ’21 works within the Metropolitan Policy Program, a research division that focuses on analyzing how policies impact U.S. cities.

At the end of my work day, I do what any college student would at the end of a warm, clear summer day: I take a walk, make dinner, and get started on homework. It’s true. I spend most evenings completing exercises for my online data science course, which Hamilton offers through the Liberal Arts Collaborative for Digital Innovation (LACOL). The course includes 11 Hamilton students and dozens more from other colleges, such as Swarthmore and Williams, and is taught by professors throughout the LACOL system.

As soon as the academic year ended, Kayla White ’21 jumped into her internship with Kids Comic Con, working directly with its creator.
