While many choose to relax over the summer, Lia Parker-Belfer ’16 has been advancing her academic and professional interests through dual internships in Washington D.C.: one at recently-established consulting firm Three Point Strategies and the other in the office of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

Max Flath ’16 is getting an inside look into the workings of our political system this summer as an intern in the office of Congressman Matt Cartwright ’83 (D-PA-17). Though internships on Capitol Hill are not uncommon, the manner by which Flath acquired his internship stands out as unique and reinforces the power of  Hamilton connections.

Elza Harb ’18 hasn’t yet declared her prospective major in government, but she’s getting a strong start along that path with an internship this summer in the district office of Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) in Chicago. Harb’s internship with Quigley’s office is funded through Hamilton’s First Year Forward program. 

Daphne Assimakopoulos ’17 is experiencing firsthand the multifaceted world of political advocacy this summer as an online outreach intern for the National Women’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. Her internship is supported through the Diversity and Social Justice Fund, managed through Hamilton’s Career and Life Outcomes Center.

Mykhailo Antoniv ’17 is making the most of his computer science major this summer in an internship with Grand Central Tech, a startup accelerator headquartered in New York City. Through his work with GCT, Antoniv is also acting as an intern at Backtrace, an error debugging platform for native applications. His endeavors this summer are supported by the Class of 2006 Fund, managed through Hamilton’s Career and Life Outcomes Center.

Chris Bousquet ’16 is entering the world of journalism this summer as an editorial intern for DC Inno, the Washington, D.C. branch of Streetwise Media. Streetwise Media was co-founded by Hamilton alumni Chase Garbarino ’07 and Kevin McCarthy ’07, and since its inception has expanded to own and operate digital news branches in Boston, D.C., Chicago and Austin. Bousquet’s internship at DC Inno is funded through Hamilton’s Joseph F. Anderson ’44 Internship Fund.

Katherine (Katie) Guzzetta ’18 is spending her summer in Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar, studying Propithecus edwardsi, a lemur native to the island nation. Madagascar is famous for the endangered creatures, primates that look  like a cross between a cat,  squirrel and dog. Guzzetta, an intended biochemistry major, is undertaking this research under Dr. Patricia Wright, head of Centre ValBio and professor at Stony Brook University. 

Colin Day ’16 is spending his summer at the National Museum of Mathematics in Manhattan, helping to tackle what he believes to be an all-too-common popular aversion to mathematics in today’s society. Day had discovered this opportunity through the Museum of Mathematics (MoMath’s) Facebook page. His internship is supported by the Monica Odening Student Internship and Research Fund in Mathematics, managed by Hamilton’s Career and Life Outcomes Center.

Hannah Staab ’17 is applying her academic focus in biology to an internship with Dr. Kamran Khodakhah’s lab at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, this summer. The AE College of Medicine is one of the premier research-intensive medical schools in the nation and is a longtime national leader in biomedical research.

Zachary Pilson '16 is spending his summer in an internship at Ashoka, a not for profit organization dedicated to supporting social innovators and entrepreneurs to “advance an ‘Everyone a Changemaker’ world, where anyone can apply the skills of changemaking to solve complex social problems.” Pilson, a biochemistry major, is working in Ashoka's Venture and Fellowship department which helps locate, nominate, fund and connect new and past Ashoka Fellows throughout the world.
