For Sarah Wallack ’16 this summer, an art museum was much more than simply a place to look at paintings; it was a place to find inspiration and to share it. As a studio art intern in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’  (MFA) education department, she helped to teach children’s art classes through the museum’s Journeys Through Art summer program. As a Hamilton art major she also found inspiration for her own work. 

The British Museum is one of the most prominent museums in the world, known for a wide range of collections dedicated to human history and culture. This summer, Lauren Scutt ’16 worked to improve one of those collections through an internship with the Museum’s Beyond Boundaries: Religion, Region, Language and the State project. 

Ever since he was a child, Henry Kang ’17 knew that he wanted to go into the medical field. This summer he got his first significant research experience through an internship with the Biomedical and Physical Sciences department at Michigan State University. With financial support from the Class of 1964 Internship Support Fund, Kang joined a team of researchers analyzing cells in the human immune system that can help to fight cancer.

As the U.S. gears up for its long presidential election season, average Americans are paying more and more attention to political parties and their candidates. The political parties themselves have a lot of work to do as they prepare for both the presidential election and local elections. This summer, Rachel Williams ’17 got a firsthand look at the behind-the-scenes operations of the Republican Party as an intern with the Republican Party of Pennsylvania. She received support from the Katharine Eckman ’09 Internship Fund.

For students interested in government, a summer spent interning in Washington, D.C. is a dream come true. This summer Grant Whitney ’17 lived that dream as an intern for the United Nations Foundation, an organization that advocates on behalf of the United Nations. Whitney’s internship was made possible by the Joseph F. Anderson ’44 Internship Fund and provided him with valuable insight into the processes of government and law-making.

One day, Chloe Ma ’17 hopes to start her own international non-governmental organization. This summer she gained valuable experience toward that goal. With funding from the Summer Internship Support Fund, she worked as the summer operations intern at Global Nomads Group, a non-profit organization that uses technology to foster cultural exchange between youth all around the world. 

Amelia Heller ’16 is expanding her horizons this summer as an intern at Vimbly, an activities-based booking platform headquartered in Midtown Manhattan. Heller, a Hispanic studies major, discovered this opportunity through research on Craigslist, and was granted funding through the Summer Internship Support Fund, managed by Hamilton's Career and Life Outcomes Center.

Alex Mitko ’16 this summer  is taking the principles he’s learned as a neuroscience major at Hamilton into an internship with the Boston Attention and Learning Lab, a cognitive neuroscience lab located in the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Jamaica Plains, Boston. The BAL Lab conducts research that focuses on “the cognitive and neural mechanisms of attention, as well as the potential for enhancing attention abilities through cognitive training.”

Jamie Granskie ’16 is making a difference this summer as an intern at the National Eating Disorders Association, headquartered in New York City. Formed in 2001, the NEDA is America’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders.Granskie’s internship is supported by the Scott Steven Morris ‘86 Fund, managed through Hamilton’s Career Center.
