The College’s First Year Forward (FYF) program was the focus of an article published on May 13 in The Chronicle of Higher Education titled “'Little Tricks' Help Disadvantaged Students Plot Career Paths.” The New York Times also featured Hamilton in a Sunday, May 12, front-page article titled “On a College Waiting List? Sending Cookies Isn’t Going to Help.”

Students accepted to Hamilton’s class of 2017 are on campus today with their families for the annual Accepted Student Open House. Attendees can sit in on faculty seminars, tour the campus, and hear from President Joan Hinde Stewart and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer. See the full schedule.

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer made her third appearance on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 11.  Financial aid, choosing a college, and wait lists  were among the topics that Inzer, Arizona State University Executive Director of Admission David Burge, University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions Director Ted Spencer and Today Show co-host Matt Lauer discussed.

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer will make her third appearance on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 11.  Financial aid, choosing a college, taking a gap year and wait lists are among possible topics that will be addressed by Inzer, Arizona State University Executive Director of Admission David Burge and University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions Director Ted Spencer. The segment is tentatively scheduled for 8:35 a.m. {Update: The segment has been moved to 8:10 a.m.}

Forty-eight members of the class of ’16 as well as six transfer students arrived on the Hill on Jan. 17 to register, move in and matriculate at Hamilton.  The College offers January admission to about 35-45 students per year to fill vacancies created by students on leave and studying abroad.

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer made her second appearance this year on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 12. The topic of the segment focused on the college selection process - what students should consider after they are accepted to an institution.

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer joined New York Times    education senior editor Jacques Steinberg, on The Today Show to discuss issues related to financial aid on Friday, January 20. Video of this segment can be found on the Times’ admission website, The Choice.

Both Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer and Vice President for Information Technology Dave Smallen were quoted in the Oct. 1 issue of University Business magazine. In “Tuition setting: rationale behind determining price in a time of limited budgets,” Inzer discussed the participants and processes in tuition-setting discussions and in “Cloud email: the good the bad the uptime:,” Smallen discussed the elimination of storage costs and improved uptime that resulted when the college converted to gmail.

U.S. News & World Report singled out Hamilton as one of the colleges that “are breaking tradition while recruiting prospective students” in an article titled “5 New Ways Colleges Are Reaching High School Students” published on Oct. 17. The Huffington Post also published the piece on its website. 

The Washington Post’s College Inc. blog featured Hamilton’s newest admission poster, a silver metallic sheet on which a foot-square QR (quick response) code with one word, “Hamilton,” in large blue lettering is printed. “There is a shortage of new ideas in college recruiting .... Kudos, then, to Hamilton College in New York for being the first institution to think of printing a giant Quick Response code as an admissions poster."
