National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. December’s news topics included coverage of AI, inflation, art, and poetry, among others.

Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics emeritus, participated in two conferences earlier this year and published two papers.

Hamilton College faculty, staff, and alumni continued to appear in national media outlets and prominent higher education publications in 2025 as thought leaders, providing their expertise on a wide range of topics.

This summer, Levitt Center student researchers Luke Hanson ’26, Delaney Patterson ’26, Samuel Low ’28, and Ton Somnug ’27 joined forces with Griffiss Institute CEO and Hamilton alumna Heather Hage ’02 to investigate the holistic impact of federal spending on the local economy. In November, the Griffiss Institute released findings from the research study.

The Chautauqua Institute emphasizes holistic lifelong learning in all disciplines, from politics and history to art and spirituality. This summer, Susie Anderson ’27 became part of that history as a staff writer for The Chautauquan Daily, shining a light on the happenings of its 2025 season.

“Social media advertising and macroeconomic expectations: Evidence from Meta,” co-authored by Assistant Professor of Economics Cody Couture and Ann Owen, the Henry Platt Bristol Chair of Public Policy and Professor of Economics, was recently published in the journal Economics Letters.
