The Hamilton College Arboretum Third Saturday series continues on Saturday, April 18, with research historian and garden history consultant Christie Higginbottom. She will give a lecture titled “Fashion in Flowers: Ornamental Gardens in the Early Nineteenth Century” at 10 a.m. in the Taylor Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium.

Adriana Kugler, professor at the McCourt School of Public Policy and vice-provost for faculty at Georgetown University, will deliver a lecture titled “The Benefits and Cost of Trade Openness for Latin America” on Thursday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m., in the Kennedy Auditorium, Taylor Science Center. The talk is free and open to the public.

Pauline Yu, president of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS),  will give a lecture  titled “Narratives of the Humanities” on Thursday, April 9, at 4:10 p.m., in the Taylor Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public and sponsored by Hamilton’s Humanities Forum.

Thistle Farms/Magdalene founder Becca Stevens will present a lecture titled “Living Out Our Ideals in the Practical World” on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m., in the Chapel. Stevens’ lecture is sponsored by the STOP TRAFFIK organization and is free and open to the public.

Author, advocate and independent scholar Barbara Smith will present a lecture titled “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around: Forty Years of Movement Building” on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m., in the Red Pit in the Kirner-Johnson Building. Smith’s lecture is sponsored by the Women’s Studies Department and is free and open to the public.

The F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series will present the Alloy Orchestra accompanying Alfred Hitchcock’s 1929 thriller Blackmail on Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m., in the Kirner-Johnson Building’s Bradford Auditorium.

Dean Eppler, a NASA expert on spacesuits for future planetary exploration, will present “Space suits and field geology: How can we do what we do when the outcrop isn’t on the Third Rock?” on Tuesday, March 31, at 4:10 p.m., in room 3024 in the Taylor Science Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Filmmaker Gloria Greenfield will screen her documentary, Body and Soul: The State of the Jewish Nation, on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m., in the Bradford Auditorium, Kirner-Johnson Building. It is free and open to the public and sponsored by the AHI Undergraduate Fellows.

A reading by poet Patrick Lawler, writer-in-residence at LeMoyne College, has been rescheduled for Monday, March 9, at 8 p.m., in Dwight Lounge, Bristol Center. The reading, which is free and open to the public, is part of the English and Creative Writing Spring 2015 Reading Series. Lawler’s appearance in February was postponed due to inclement weather.

Author Jennifer Bartlett will give a reading at Hamilton on Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m., in Dwight Lounge in Bristol Center. Bartlett’s most recent book is Autobiography/Anti-Autobiography (theenk Books, 2014). Her reading is free and open to the public.
