Contemporary artist Renée Stout and textile artist Karen Hampton will present a lecture focusing on their creative process and artwork currently on display at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 4:15 p.m., in the Wellin Museum overlook on Hamilton’s campus. The lecture, part of the Wellin’s Artists in Conversation series, is free and open to the public.

Filmmaker Pawel Wojtasik returns to the F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series on Sunday, Nov. 1, to present Single Stream (2013) and other films. F.I.L.M. screenings are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the Kirner-Johnson Building’s Bradford Auditorium and are free and open to the public.

Miguel “Mickey” Melendez, an advocate for Latino and Puerto Rican rights, will present a lecture titled “The Puerto Rican Experience and the Young Lords” on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 4:15 p.m., in the Red Pit, KJ. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Dr. Robert Sternberg, a preeminent psychologist and professor of human development at Cornell University, will present a lecture titled “Standardized Testing in the United States: Fish, Fowl, or Fraud?” on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel. 

The fall F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series continues on Sunday, Oct. 25, when animator Stacey Steers presents Night Hunter (2011) and other films. This and all F.I.L.M. screenings are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the Bradford Auditorium in the Kirner-Johnson Building. All events are free and open to the public.

William Jacobson ’81, associate clinical professor of law and director of the Securities Law Clinic at Cornell Law School, will present a lecture titled “Academic Freedom and BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions)”, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., in the Red Pit, Kirner-Johnson Building. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Charles Watkinson, director of the University of Michigan Press, will give the Couper Phi Beta Kappa Lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 4:10 p.m., in the Kennedy Auditorium, Taylor Science Center. His lecture is titled “Open Access Monographs. Why Should Authors, Librarians, and Administrators Care?” and is free and open to the public.

The 14th annual Hamilton College Fall Fest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10, from noon to 4 p.m., on the Clinton Village Green. The event is free and open to the public.

Award-winning novelist Trudy Lewis will read from her  latest work on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m., in the Fillius Events Barn. She will also discuss the difference between Master of Fine Arts and Ph.D.’s with creative dissertations. The lecture is sponsored by the English and Creative Writing Department and is free and open to the public.

Ambassador Thomas Pickering, a career foreign service officer and distinguished fellow, foreign policy, at the Brookings Institution, will deliver a lecture titled “Iran: Deal or No Deal?” on Friday, Oct. 2, at 4:30 p.m., in the Chapel. The lecture is free and open to the public.
