  • Benjamin Haller, the Batten Associate Professor of Classics at Virginia Wesleyan College, will present a lecture on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 4:10 p.m., in the Kennedy Auditorium. Haller’s talk will deal with reflections of the figure of Iphigeneia, the poet Simonides, and classical models of architecture as mind in Chris Nolan’s film Inception (2010). The lecture is sponsored by the Classics department and is free and open to the public.

Morris Class of 1976 Visiting Fellow. Dill, a member of the National Academy of Sciences who has been honored with numerous prestigious awards in his field, will present two lectures, "The Deep Innovation Engine of Science in America" at 4 p.m. on Thursday and "A Physical Chemist's Look at How Cells Grow and Evolve" on Friday at 3 p.m. 

  • Recent alumna and Pacific Crest Trail thru-hiker Manique Talaia-Murray ’12 returned to Hamilton on Dec. 1. to talk about her experience hiking 2,600 miles along the West Coast over the course of six months.

  • Although the United States remained intact after the Civil War, animosity between northerners and southerners has never fully dissipated. Joseph Glatthaar, the Stephenson Distinguished Professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, believes this can be largely attributed to the “raiding strategy” employed by the Union during the latter half of the Civil War. Glatthaar travelled to the Hill on Nov. 11 for a lecture and book-signing.

  • Paul Clemence, New York-based photographer and author, will present a lecture, “Perception Meets Expression,” on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 4:15 p.m., in the Overlook in the Wellin Museum of Art. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will discuss the perception and expression of architecture through the photographic lens.

  • The Levitt Center on Nov. 10 hosted Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, a world-renowned oncologist, scientist, and writer, who gave a lecture on the history of cancer research and its most recent strides.
