President David Wippman and Alex the Mascot welcomed local trick-or-treaters to Buttrick Hall on Halloween as they participated in Hamilton’s annual Trust Treat celebration.

While many students spent the Halloween weekend dressing up in costumes, Hamilton’s Mock Trial team spent the weekend in suits at the University of Rochester’s 9th annual “Yellowjacket Invitational.” Hamilton’s team has won this tournament for the past three years, and continued the streak this weekend. Hamilton’s two teams swept away the competition yet again, placing first and second at the tournament.

Author Stuart Ewen, a historian and lecturer on media and consumer culture, will present a lecture titled “The ‘I’ and the Eye: A Brief History of Optics and Individualism” on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7:15 p.m., in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Nhora Lucía Serrano curated a book exhibition on “The Columbian Exchange” that displays rare materials from Burke Library’s Special Collections and four new recent acquisitions printed in Mexico.

Some 250 students and faculty/staff members celebrated Diwali on Oct. 30 at the Tolles Pavilion. Diwali is a festival of light celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs in late October and early November.

Students participating in the Hamilton New York City Program took a train ride to Stamford, Conn., on Oct. 19 to meet Robert Morris ’76, P’16,’17 founder and managing partner of Olympus Partners, a private equity firm.

Hamilton’s field hockey and men’s soccer teams are heading to the semifinal rounds of the NESCAC Championships next weekend.
