Thus far my internship has been great. I got lost on my first day, but I was still the first one to arrive. In fact the doors to the office were locked. In the first week, I have already been assigned three different projects and attended one formal executive meeting. The work is challenging but very exciting and fun. Although it has only been a week, I feel like I have been there for a month.

My day begins on the 4 or 5 express train out of Bowling Green Station. From there I get off at 42nd Street and catch the local up one stop to 51st where I then walk three blocks to my Park Ave. office. It usually takes about 45 minutes to commute and although it is only 8:30 a.m. I am already operating on all cylinders. The first few hours in the office are subdued, but by 10:30 the place is buzzing. Phones are ringing, people are running around, and deals are being made. We only have an office of about 30 people but for me it feels like the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Once 12:30 rolls around most people break for lunch, but this is not some leisurely bite to eat at Commons. I hurry down 20 floors to the local deli, pick up a sandwich, and head back to my cubicle. As my boss says, every minute spent away from the desk is a lost opportunity. The afternoon is even busier than the morning. Things start to settle down around 4:30 and by 5:30 I am back on the subway heading downtown to my apartment. Although it is a long grueling day, I am satisfied with what I have accomplished.
