Alexandra Murdoch ’92 was recently appointed the vice president of policy at American Forests. American Forests is the oldest nonprofit conservation organization in the country and is responsible for the founding of the U.S. Forest Service as well as many other conservation milestones.
Murdoch will take on the position with nearly two decades of experience in leading policy improvements in the areas of natural resources and health. Prior to American Forests, Murdoch spent seven years at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) where she served as the federal policy director. During her time at CBF, Murdoch was instrumental in developing and drafting new policy provisions and language for the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program and Regional Conservation Partnership Program. Her work on these programs led to the successful inclusion of her provisions in two marker bills and in the 2018 Senate Farm Bill.

She currently co-chairs the Agriculture Management Committee for the American Bar Association’s Section on Energy and Environment and is a member of the Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment.
