Alexandru Hirsu ’17 recently won the 2017 Romanian Men’s National Curling Championships held in Bratislava, Slovakia on Dec. 1 and 2.
Hirsu (lead) along with his two teammates Allen Coliban (skip) and Cristian Matau (vice-skip) competed against three other teams in a round-robin style tournament.
The win secured the team a spot in the 2018 European C-Division Curling Championships which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and will run from April 11 to 18.

The event will feature teams from all over Europe, and the winner and runner-up of the C-Division Championship will be promoted to the B-Division. This promotion gives the winners a chance to compete in the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships later this year in Tallinn, Estonia.
During his time at Hamilton, Hirsu was an active member of the club curling team, serving as the treasurer. He competed on the College’s national team that attended the 2017 USA College Curling Championship in Utica, N.Y.
