The Hamilton College Arboretum’s 2017-18 Saturday Speaker series continues on Saturday, Feb. 17, with Leon Ginenthal, rose gardener and founder of Der Rosenmeister Nursery. He will discuss his work at 10 a.m. in the Taylor Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium. This lecture is free and open the public.
Ginenthal has grown roses for over 30 years, and 12 years ago he built Der Rosenmeister Nursery in Ithaca. At the nursery he tends to over 1000 plants and hosts events throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy over 200 species of roses, including climbers, Buck roses and floribundas.
Ginenthal is also a member of the NY State Nursery and Landscape Association and a consulting rosarian for the American Rose Society. He has conducted various landscaping projects, including the transformation of the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lake’s backyard, which earned him the James J. Byrne Award for Excellence.
Parking is available near the building. All Arboretum events are free and open to the public, and everyone interested in gardens and landscapes is encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required.

April 28- “The World of Laura Ingalls” by Martha McDowell, gardener, author, and essayist.
