After months of planning, the inauguration of David Wippman as Hamilton’s 20thpresident will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Walter Mondale, the 42nd vice president of the United States, will offer brief remarks.

The inauguration ceremony, which will be attended by delegates representing approximately 60 academic institutions and honor societies, is free and open to the public.  The ceremony will be streamed live.  An all-campus picnic will follow.

The inauguration coincides with Fallcoming and Family Weekend which offer a host of additional events for parents, alumni and guests.

New this year are “Alex Talks,” a series of concurrent 30-minutes talks with Q&A by Hamilton faculty.  They’ll take place on Friday, Oct. 7, beginning at 4 p.m. in the Red Pit and room 101 in Kirner-Johnson. Faculty presenting are Farah Dawood, Lydia Hamessley, Rob Martin Ann Owen, Ravi Thiruchselvam, and Earl “Tony” Wayne.

Other weekend events will include student poster sessions, athletic contests, student performances, and the annual Fallcoming jazz concert.  The Alumni Council will honor Barbara Graves Starnes P'80 GP'11 as the Jeff Little Volunteer of the Year on Saturday morning.
