At the end of last class, we wandered into a discussion of a recent controversy about a school barring a local priest from talking to students at lunchtime. Some in the class argued that such voluntary mentoring would help some and do no harm. I disagree. I explained to the class that my Christian beliefs should affect my choices and my life, not the lives of others. I felt that religion should be practiced at home, not in the classroom or with "lunch-in" visits by priests.  I argued for a strong division between church and state.
