I had my first brush with fame this week.  True, I work at ABC and I see celebrities such as Diane Sawyer, John Stossel, Charlie Gibson, Peter Jennings, and Barbara Walters every day. But meeting these accomplished anchors is not quite the same as shaking the hand of Jessica Simpson or Tom Cruise.  While I did not meet Ms. Simpson or Mr. Cruise, I was given the opportunity to chat with the cast and writer of Sex & the City this week.  Yep, I shook the hands of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda.  Honestly, I felt a little stupid being introduced to these famous women, who were all done up in designer duds, perfectly coiffed and made up for their interview with ABC anchor Cynthia McFadden in the exclusive Soho House library.

Little did I know when I answered a page earlier that morning that I would be hailing a taxi to take me to meet four of the most notable actresses on television today.  I chuckled to myself as I made my way around the cozy library.  I was listening intently to the women who were seated around a small table, which was to be covered by the burgundy tablecloth I had been sent to deliver, and were chatting candidly with each other as if they had not seen each other in weeks.  I smiled and thought how this interaction resembled my girlfriends and me when we get together for lunch or some other casual outing.  These women truly enjoy their work.  As I left the ABC set shortly after the interview was completed, I thought how lucky I was to see these women not simply as TV personalities, but them as a group--happy, funny, giggly and, most of all, real.
