Before I began working in the business district of lower Manhattan, I imagined that the pace would be frantic. I have been surprised to learn that this was not actually the case.  The New Yorkers walking to and from work in the financial district do not seem to be in a rush.  Most of them are not walking very fast and many are even having conversations with one another.  I have also noticed that meetings do not always start right on time, which does not seem to bother people.  This is not to say that people are not taking their jobs seriously.  Everyone gets done what needs to get done.  I am sure that some New Yorkers fit my stereotype of the driven business people. Yet, even in our Wall Street neighborhood, many seem to go with the flow.
