“Navigating Compliance and Compassion: The Role of International Student Services,” co-authored by Director of International Student Services Omobonike Odegbami, is included in the monograph NASPA Global Division Publication, Vol. 1: Creating Global Community.
In an email announcing the acceptance of the article, NASPA’s research and publications team said its editorial team “was impressed with the clarity of [the co-authors’] scholarship, the strength of [their] argumentation, and the contribution [the] work makes to the broader themes of creating global community.” The email noted that the “article offers important insights that … will significantly enhance the depth and quality of this monograph.” As a contributing author to this publication, Odegbami was invited to attend the reveal of the volume at the recent NASPA Annual Conference in Kansas City, Mo.
According to its website, the organization that became NASPA was founded in 1918 as NADAM, the National Association of Deans and Advisers of Men. It evolved to include women and in 1951 became the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, or NASPA, “the professional home for the field of student affairs.” The goal of the organization is to cultivate “student success in collaboration with the missions of [its] institutional members, a network of colleges and universities representing every sector of higher education.”
