On November 15, McCullough Shriver ’13 received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award at the Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles (OFALS) 14th Annual Gala Anniversary for his work as the founder of Sweetflexx.
The two other honorees were Olivia Palermo, Global Style Icon and Entrepreneur, and Wes Matthews Sr., Los Angeles Lakers Point Guard and 2x NBA Champion.
Sweetflexx uses resistance band technology to create clothes that are stylish, comfortable, and provide a health benefit to those who wear them. Shriver states that "by applying a small amount of resistance to each step, we are able to make big strides towards improving overall health and saving time."
The JB Pierce Lab at Yale University has conducted independent clinical studies on the effectiveness of Sweetflexx’s resistance band technology. The results showed that one day of wearing Sweetflexx is similar to thirty minutes of working out at the gym. Other ongoing studies are also observing Sweetflexx’s ability to help users lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, and its effect on Type 2 Diabetes.
