Hamilton College finished third of 15 entries in the novice fours at the Head of the Schuylkill on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on Oct. 29.

Temperatures were in the 40s early, and dropped into the 30s later on.  A steady rain changed to snow, and winds were variable from 5-to-15 mph.  All races scheduled to start after noon were cancelled due to the weather.

Hamilton's novice four covered the 2.5-mile course in 16 minutes, 1.29 seconds.  LaSalle University won the race in 15:09.10, and the U.S. Military Academy finished second in 15:41.09.

In the open club eights, the University of Virginia finished first in 13:01.74, edging runner-up Drexel University, which came in at 13:02.33.  Hamilton finished 15th of the 29 entries in 13:53.71.

Monica Gutierrez '15 was coxswain for the novice four.  The rest of the boat included Patrick English '15 at stroke, Gardner Reed '14 in the bow seat, Alex Cates '15 in the 3-seat and Jacob Wagner '15 in the 2-seat.

Jaime Leiva-Cabrera '14 was coxswain for the open club eight.  The rest of the lineup included Matt Poterba '12 at stroke, Simon Judd '13 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Dylan Jackson '13, Rafael De La Rosa '12, Chris Visentin '12, Philip Ewing '15, Adam Minchew '12 and Nicholas Bullen '15.

Hamilton has completed its fall rowing schedule.
