Multimedia artist Curt Confer ’02 will present a lecture titled “Time Warp: Getting Lost in NYC’s Experimental Art Scene” on Friday, March 6, at 4:15 p.m., in the Kennedy Center’s Barrett Lab Theatre. Confer’s lecture is sponsored by the Theatre Department and is free and open to the public.
Confer received his MFA from New York University in 2007. He has sought out performance art and experimental theater in all types of spaces, including galleries, backyards and basements. Confer’s talk will explore his “top 10” list of the most transformative and challenging artworks he has experienced in New York City in the last 10 years. Many of the artists he will discuss have either been influenced by or emerged from New York’s downtown art scene in the late ’60s and early ’70s.
