Associate Professor of Biology Patrick Reynolds has been appointed editor of the journal Invertebrate Biology, published by the American Microscopical Society, for a three-year term. The journal of the American Microscopical Society is one of the oldest biological journals in the United States, publishing continuously since 1879. Reynolds was named the 20th editor of the journal after serving six years as co-editor under outgoing editor Vicki Buchsbaum Pearse.

Invertebrate Biology publishes research articles on the biology of invertebrate animals in all of its aspects, not only microscopy of invertebrates but research involving the fields of cell and molecular biology, ecology, physiology, genetics, systematics, behavior, and biogeography. The journal first published under the name Proceedings of the American Society of Microscopists (vols. 1-13; 1878/1879-1892), then as Proceedings of the American Microscopical Society (vols. 14-16; 1892-1994), then for 100 years as Transactions of the American Microscopical Society (vols. 17-113; 1895-1994), and since 1995 (vols. 114-present) as Invertebrate Biology. The 125th volume of the journal will be published in 2006. For more information visit: www.invertebratebiology.org or http://www.amicros.org/
