Regional British Columbia newspapers Nelson Star and Valley Voice announced a July 24 public open house and presentation about The Slocan Narrows Archaeological Project.
The Slocan Narrows Archaeological Project is a biennial field school conducted by Hamilton College at the ancient village site near Lemon Creek in the Slocan Valley. Led by Associate Professor of Archaeology Nathan Goodale, the archaeological research project, ongoing for almost two decades, has provided substantial information about indigenous lifeways in the Upper Columbia River area during the last 3,000 years.
Goodale and Lecturer in Anthropology Alissa Nauman are working with seven students at the site.
The open house will include an Indigenous greeting, a lecture on the archaeological research being conducted at the Slocan Narrows site, and the premiere of the educational short film “Archaeology at the River Narrows: Indigenous Occupation of the Slocan Valley.”
