This past Wednesday, Rob Kuchar and I received tickets to CBS's Late Show with host David Letterman.  The show featured acclaimed actress Ashley Judd, along with singer/songwriter Ben Harper. The taping began promptly at 5:30 p.m. and lasted for one hour.  As always, Paul Schaffer and friends put on a wonderful show, playing popular songs that kept the audience cheering. When we reached our seats, we were greeted by a comedian, who told a few jokes to lighten up the audience. The man told us that we (the audience) were the most crucial factor in making the show a success. We were told to cheer but not to scream because the microphones were so sensitive that high-pitched noise caused them to short-out. He told us to "smile, smile, and smile," and encouraged us to let loose and relax for the duration of the show.  Since Dave feeds off our reactions, said the comedian, we needed to be very responsive. With all the excitement, the hour passed very quickly. The Late Show was an awesome experience, and I hope to attend similar shows in weeks to come.
