The Women’s Classical Caucus (WCC) recently named Professor of Comparative Literature Emerita Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz the winner of its 2025-26 WCC Public Scholarship Award.
According to the WCC website, the award is given for the public contributions of an individual scholar whose work addresses feminist concerns such as “social hegemonies, adjunct labor, [and] racist/sexist/ableist appropriations of Classical antiquity, any other concerns related to marginalized groups in the field of Classics.” It is one of four WCC advocacy awards presented each year.
This year’s award winners will be recognized in January during the joint meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America and the Society for Classical Studies. The WCC is an affiliate organization of the Society for Classical Studies.
