The Mary McLean Evans ’82 Scholarship
The Mary McLean Evans '82 Scholarship was established by members of the Hamilton Board of Trustees, alumni, parents and friends of the College to recognize and celebrate Mary McLean Evans, Class of 1982, and her lifelong dedication to Hamilton College.
Mary matriculated as a member of Hamilton's first coed class when she arrived on the Hill in 1978. While at Hamilton, she was elected to Pentagon and received her degree in biology. Following graduation, Mary held many roles at Hamilton, including director of the Annual Fund, major gifts officer, and assistant vice president/executive director of the Career Center.
As both student and alumna, Mary brought Hamiltonians together, leaving an indelible mark on the Hamilton community and being referred to by many as the "ultimate connector." In 1982 her character earned her the James Soper Merrill Prize and in 2026, in recognition of her dedication to the College, she received the Bell Ringer Award, making her only the second person to receive both awards.
