Mid Autumn Festival
By Duru Tas
November 2, 2026
On October 8, the Asian Student Union (ASU) celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok, bringing the Hamilton community together through food, cultural traditions, and personal stories. The Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok both center harvest and expression of gratitude, yet have differences. While the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in Chinese cultures, focusing on family reunions, Chuseok is celebrated in Korean cultures, focusing on ancestral services. The event featured speeches from two students, one of whom shared his experience as a Korean American and how he found a sense of family at Hamilton, and the other sharing the legend behind the Mid-Autumn Festival to explain its cultural significance, bringing traditions from another part of the globe all the way to DMC for the Hamilton community to celebrate, or be with those who do.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with ASU!
