Looking for community and culture at Hamilton? The Asian Student Union (ASU) has you covered. Hamilton’s ASU is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive space where students can celebrate cultures, build connections, and foster community. Serena Bagga ‘27, ASU’s president, says she hopes to “promote inclusivity, and represent numerous ethnic, religious, and cultural groups” under the ASU umbrella. “It’s important for non-Asian students to come to [our]  event[s],” she said, noting that ASU hopes to be a bridge between cultures on campus. Treasurer Annika Saida ‘27 agreed, describing ASU as a group that focuses on “creating a sense of community and educating the campus on so many different cultural events.” She stressed that the group is “not just for Asian students, but anyone who supports or is an ally.” This semester, students can look forward to a lively schedule that includes cultural celebrations like Diwali, Chuseok, and the Mid Autumn Festival, as well as speed dating and weekly tea times.

For incoming students, ASU wants to make it clear that their doors are always open. Bagga shared that ASU is a “super fun environment and a break from normal academics, for people who identify in any way with the culture.” Saida added that first year students “should know that they always have a community,” and that the group is “always looking to improve, and open to the needs and wants of [all] student[s] on campus.” Social media manager Jason Chen ’28 also underscored ASU’s commitment to its members, calling it a “safe space for Asian students” while reminding new students that their voices are valued. Together, the E-board envisions ASU as both a safe haven and lively hub of activity, where students can feel seen, heard, and celebrated. Whether you’re looking to connect with your heritage, learn, support your peers, or simply try something new, ASU offers a place to belong.
