Applicants must be juniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and plan to enter a research- or creative-focused master’s or doctoral program in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. The award does not support students who wish to earn professional degrees. US citizenship and campus nomination are required.

Duration

Scholars are encouraged to begin graduate study immediately following graduation and must utilize all funding within six years of completing their undergraduate studies, and within five years of beginning graduate studies.

Deadline

In 2025, the campus deadline is Wednesday, March 12 at noon. All materials are due by this time.

Amount

Scholars receive $5,000 immediately prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school.

Nomination Process

It is crucial that candidates work closely with their faculty on the application and reach out to the Director of Fellowships to discuss their plans and get the application as early as possible.

Complete applications, including recommendation letters, are due by the campus deadline. A faculty committee reviews the applications and selects the College's nominee.  No interview is required. The nominee will have time to fine tune their application prior to the national deadline.
