Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship
The Foundation supports young people of special intelligence, application, deportment, and character who have financial need and demonstrated excellence in academic endeavors and extracurricular activities.
Eligibility
Nomination by Hamilton College is required. Hamilton may nominate up to two candidates.
- All students are eligible (U.S. citizenship is not required; no age restrictions)
- Accepted into a full-time graduate degree program at an accredited university to begin studies in fall or be accepted into such a program by the March 15 application deadline
- Be a senior or recent graduate.
- Must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
Selection Process
Selection is based on the following: academic ability and achievement, unmet financial need, will to succeed, leadership and public service, critical-thinking ability, and appreciation for/participation in the arts and humanities. Note: Typical winners have a 3.75 GPA or above, and a combined family income of less than $70,000/year.
Amount and Duration
The amount and duration of awards vary by student, based on the cost of attendance and length of the program as well as other scholarships or grants received. The maximum available per student is $50,000 per year. Most awards are for fewer than six years and less than $50,000 per year.
Deadlines
- March 15: Deadline for receipt of application at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
- May: Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Review Panel meets.
- June: Applicants are notified of award status mid-month.
