 The Curatorial Studies Initiative provides support for public lectures related to courses. Funds may cover an honoraria of up to $1,000 and up to $1,250 for additional expenses as per Dean of Faculty (DOF) guidelines. The honorarium is determined by speaker activity and credentials. Speakers may include scholars, professionals from museums (e.g., art, science and technology, history, etc.), special collections, and/or archives. 

Eligibility: Faculty and professional staff

Deadline: Rolling

Proposals must include a talk that is incorporated into a class and open to the campus community.

Priority will be given to proposals that address the following topics; related topics may also be proposed:

  • Acquisition and/or interpretation of cultural artifacts, art objects, archival documents, rare books and manuscripts, or scientific data
  • Questions of provenance and/or ethics of collecting
  • Preservation and conservation
  • Exhibition design and installation
  • Museum education and public programming

Send proposals to Thomas Wilson or Marissa Ambio that address the criteria outlined above and include: 

  • Proposed expenses
  • Speaker name, title, affiliation
  • Talk title or topic
  • Course title
