Making a grand entrance
Is it the 70-degree day — the year’s last — that brings former Hamilton carpenter Jim Sexton back to campus to work on a new gazebo at the entrance to the Root Glen? Is it the riot of color, the electric blue sky? “It’s the cedar work and the detail,” says the 16-year College employee, who had retired in July. “When I was here I kind of specialized in it.” Once completed with a stone finishing wall, the larger, sturdier structure features “a bit more display space for the arboretum and Root Glen,” says Terry Hawkridge, assistant director of grounds, horticulture and arboretum.
