The Hamilton College Department of Music presents G. Roberts Kolb, tenor, and Lauralyn Kolb, soprano, in a free faculty recital on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m, at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series opens with soprano Julianne Baird’s Jane Austen Songbook on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall.  A recital for voice and pianoforte, the Jane Austen Songbook weaves pertinent literary passages narrated around a series of arias and late 18th-century songs selected from Jane Austen’s own musical collection.

The Hamilton College Department of Music presents its annual Jazz Kick-Off Concert on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn.

The Performing Arts at Hamilton College announces an exciting roster of world-class professional performances for the 2011-12 season. From Afro-Cuban drum and dance to award-winning string quartets, the series has something that everyone will enjoy. All performances are general admission and take place at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

In response to the news that the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra will file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Hamilton's Music Department will present a special performance by the musicians of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and soprano Janet Brown on Sunday, May 8, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall.

Hamilton College and Community Oratorio Society and the Hamilton College Choir will perform a combined Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 3, at 8 p.m., at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.  

The Hamilton College Orchestra presents the annual Brainstorm! concert on Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m., in Wellin Hall. The concert will feature Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony with remarks by conductor Heather Buchman exploring the significance of the conductor’s work to Russian musical culture.

Hamilton College Performing Arts will conclude the Classical Connections Series with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO) on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m., at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.  

Hamilton Performing Arts opens the spring semester with Perpetual Motion: Revolutions in 17th-Century Science & Music on Friday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall. This performance is a multi-media production that includes music from the Baroque ensemble Galileo’s Daughters, narration by Dava Sobel from her book Galileo’s Daughter: A Historical Memoir of Science, Faith, and Love, and images of earth and space projected on a large screen.

The Hamilton College Orchestra, conducted by Heather Buchman, will perform its winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m., at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.
