Henry Shuldiner ’19 has been awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship to Colombia. A literature major from Washington, D.C., he studied in the School for International Training’s Education and Social Change Program in Santiago, Chile, in 2018.

It isn’t all play and no work for Hamilton College students during their spring break, March 15 to 31. From Alternative Break volunteer service trips in Baltimore and South Carolina to a trek over the Himalayas in Nepal, Hamilton students are pursuing their academic, charitable, and athletic interests all over the globe.

Andrea Dickmeyer ’19, recipient of a 2019 Watson Fellowship, will explore “Nature Based Therapeutic Programs and Mental Well-Being.” Watson Fellows receive a $30,000 stipend to pursue a “year of independent, purposeful exploration” abroad. Dickmeyer will travel to Australia, Norway, Hungary, and Japan.

Hamilton College conducted a live emergency drill in partnership with the New York State Police and the New York Air National Guard. To comply with the federal Clery Act, the College is required to test its response systems annually.

Ifeoluwa Aiyelabowo ’19 has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Languages scholarship to China. Aiyelabowo will study in Dalian, China, this summer before he starts his career at the financial services consulting firm Capco, where he interned last summer.

Freeman Hrabowski, III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), will deliver Hamilton College’s 2019 Commencement address and receive an honorary degree on Sunday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
