  • Hamilton has announced recipients of the 2018 Emerson Summer Grants. Created in 1997, the Emerson Foundation Grant program was designed to provide students with significant opportunities to work collaboratively with faculty members, researching an area of interest. Twenty-six Hamilton students and 26 faculty members will work on the following projects this summer. The students will make public presentations of their research throughout the next academic year.

  • Hamilton students are heading back to campus after spring break with tales of mountain climbing in Nepal, hiking the Shenandoah National Park with the Outing Club, and volunteering with Alternative Spring Break. But there’s no time for a post-spring break letdown because the college calendar is loaded with lectures, performances, and events from now until the end of the semester.

  • More than 50 Hamilton students are forgoing warm beaches and powdery slopes to lend a hand to others through the 25th annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB). ASB is a volunteer venture that consists of five different community service trips this year.

  • Amari Leigh ’21 has been named a 2018 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education.

  • Members of Hamilton's choir and College Hill Singers are about to undertake their first spring break tour under new director of choral activities and vocal studies Jace Saplan.

  • Six students were awarded prizes in three categories in the annual Public Speaking Competition on Saturday, March 3, in the Chapel. The finalists were chosen after an open preliminary round held in February. Speakers’ presentations were either persuasive or informative in nature, and in one category, students addressed an assigned topic.

  • Two Hamilton faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s Board of Trustees during the March meeting. The board granted tenure to Abhishek Amar and Quincy Newell, both of the Religious Studies department. Both appointments are effective immediately.

  • Two new exhibits opened on Feb. 10 at The Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art. This Place and Margarita Cabrera: Space in Between will be on view through June 10.
