  • The Hamilton Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa is pleased to announce the election of the following eight members of the class of 2017: Ryan Cassidy, Daniel Farina, Bryan Ferguson, Lindsay Heyer, Truman Landowski, Neema Lema, Rui Osaka and Aida Shadrav. Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest academic honorary society in the United States, honors students for both excellence in academic achievement and breadth of intellectual study.

  • The Hamilton College Department of Music presents the Jazz Kick Off Concert on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center. “Doc” Woods and The Salt City Jazz Collective start the year off with an evening of jazz and a suite of new charts by Woods.

  • Participants in the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) recently visited the Spanish region of Galicia as part of their orientation trip. Twenty-six students from Hamilton, Colby, Grinnell, Scripps, Swarthmore, Davidson, Bates, Bryn Mawr and Williams are participating in HCAYS.

  • Tatiana Bierut ’18 is first author on a paper published in Prevention Science, the official publication of the Society for Prevention Research.  The paper “Exploring Marijuana Advertising on Weedmaps, a Popular Online Directory” resulted from her 2015 summer research project.  

  • Kateri Boucher ’17 recently presented a research paper at the Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) conference in Seattle.  Her paper, ‘Too Smart to be Religious?’ Discreet Seeking Amidst Religious Stigma at an Elite College,” was published in Social Inclusion.

  • A 41-year tradition at Hamilton College continued on August 23 as members of the Class of 2020 lined up at Kirkland Cottage to sign the College Register as a symbol of matriculation at Hamilton. Kirkland Cottage has an even longer history, having been built in 1792.

  • President David Wippman will preside over the annual Convocation ceremony that officially opens Hamilton’s 205th year on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 4:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.  An all-campus picnic will follow. The Convocation ceremony can be viewed live here.
