Associate Professor of Theatre Mark Cryer and Kiana Sosa ’15 are off to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to perform The Mountaintop, that debuted at Hamilton on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January. Sosa and Cryer will be performing the show Aug. 8 through 22nd.

Dean of Faculty Patrick D. Reynolds announced the appointment of nine Hamilton faculty members to endowed chairs. All were effective July 1.

Six Hamilton faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s Board of Trustees during a recent meeting. The board granted tenure to Emily Conover, economics, Andrew Dykstra, mathematics, John Eldevik, history, Nathan Goodale, anthropology, Adam Van Wynsberghe, chemistry, and Zhuoyi Wang, East Asian languages and literatures. The tenures are effective July 1. With the granting of tenure comes the title of associate professor.

Members of the Class of 1965 were feted and the 50th anniversary of the signing of Kirkland College’s charter was celebrated.

Hamilton will welcome back more than 1,100 alumni and their guests when it hosts the college’s annual Reunion Weekend, this year on Thursday-Sunday, June 4-7. A special welcome goes to members of the class of 1965 who will be celebrating their 50th reunion, and the 50th anniversary of the signing of Kirkland College’s charter will be commemorated.

Lisa Yang ’17 and Aida Shadrav ’17 have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad. Yang plans to study in China through the Associated Colleges in China (ACC) program this summer and Shadrav will study in Spain this fall through the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain.

In his address at Hamilton College’s commencement, former U.S. ambassador to Germany and longtime top-level executive at Goldman Sachs Philip Murphy advised the Class of 2015 that as they enter the world, above all else “it is the content of your character that counts” and stressed that “the power of the individual to change the world is undiminished.”

Thirty Hamilton seniors were elected to the Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, at the May meeting. Students are elected to membership in recognition of their exceptional academic achievement in fulfilling the goals and purposes of the College.
