Hamilton College will commemorate Constitution Day on Wednesday, Sept. 17, with a lecture titled "Alexander Hamilton's Constitutional Order" by Professor of Government Robert Martin at 4:10 p.m., in the Red Pit, KJ. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Mary L. Bonauto ’83 H’05, a leader of the campaign for same-sex marriage and LGBT rights, is among 21 recipients of a 2014 MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. She is an attorney with Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD) in Boston. Bonauto received an honorary degree from Hamilton in 2005.

Teach For America released its seventh annual list of the schools contributing the greatest number of alumni to its 2014 teaching corps and Hamilton College is among the top 20 small colleges and universities. This is the second year Hamilton has been named to the list.

Members of Hamilton’s class of 2018 arrive on campus to begin New Student Orientation on Saturday, Aug. 23. More than 280 first-year students took part in pre-orientation programs Adirondack Adventure, Outreach Adventure and the new eXploration Adventure and returned to campus on Friday. The remaining members of the class will arrive and move in for New Student Orientation, which begins on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Three longtime members of Hamilton’s science faculty retired during the last academic year. Eugene Domack, Timothy Elgren and Ernest Williams had a combined 79 years of service at Hamilton.
