Sarah Mehrotra, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Malaysia. A neuroscience major at Hamilton, she studied abroad at Charles University in the Czech Republic in 2013.

Anderson Tuggle '14, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Turkey. He is a history major at Hamilton and studied abroad in India in 2012.

Hamilton hosted an International Writers Festival with poet Christian Bök, poet and visual artist Cecilia Vicuña and novelist Larissa Lai on April 11 and 12. The festival included readings, a panel discussion with Hamilton’s English faculty and the international writers, and book signings.

Leah Wolf, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Germany. She is a computer science major and German minor at Hamilton and studied abroad at Universität Tübingen in Germany in 2013.

Derek Jeter, captain and shortstop of the New York Yankees, will be the featured guest in a moderated question-and-answer chat at Hamilton College on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Jeter will appear as the next guest in Hamilton’s Sacerdote Great Names Series. The event is free and open to the public. Further details will be announced in September.

Five members of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, volunteered at the Walk for Autism fundraiser in Oneida on April 5. April is Autism Awareness Month and the walk was held to benefit The Kelberman Center in Utica, a regional center for excellence for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  The center was founded by Michael Kelberman ’80.

Emma L. Hedley, a senior in the Geosciences Department, presented a poster titled “Beach Nourishment at Virginia Beach, Virginia” at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section.  Hedley’s work in coastal geology was presented as a poster in the Coastal/Marine Science session and her abstract was published in GSA Abstracts with Programs Vol. 46, No. 2.

Catherine Brown, senior director of visual communications in Hamilton’s Communications Department, was honored as the 2014 Distinguished Service Award recipient by Hamilton’s Alumni Association. John Hadity ’83, president of the Alumni Association, presented the award on April 4 during the Alumni Council’s Recognition dinner.

Emma Teach ’16 has been awarded a Coccia Foundation Scholarship for study abroad in Italy this summer. The Coccia Foundation was established in 1994 by Cavaliere Joseph Coccia, Jr. and his wife Elda as an organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Italian culture, with a particular emphasis on promoting the rich Italian cultural heritage among younger generations at the college level.

Award-winning author and journalist Christopher Dickey will deliver the Commencement address at Hamilton College on Sunday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Dickey will be awarded an honorary degree, along with Deborah Bial, founder and president of the Posse Foundation, and Thomas Schwarz '66, president of Purchase College. Singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash will offer the Baccalaureate sermon on Saturday, May 24, at 3 p.m., in the Scott Field House. She will receive an honorary degree from Hamilton in December.
