Emma Teach ’16 has been awarded a Coccia Foundation Scholarship for study abroad in Italy this summer. The Coccia Foundation was established in 1994 by Cavaliere Joseph Coccia, Jr. and his wife Elda as an organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Italian culture, with a particular emphasis on promoting the rich Italian cultural heritage among younger generations at the college level.

Award-winning author and journalist Christopher Dickey will deliver the Commencement address at Hamilton College on Sunday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Dickey will be awarded an honorary degree, along with Deborah Bial, founder and president of the Posse Foundation, and Thomas Schwarz '66, president of Purchase College. Singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash will offer the Baccalaureate sermon on Saturday, May 24, at 3 p.m., in the Scott Field House. She will receive an honorary degree from Hamilton in December.

A reception honoring Pranlal Patel’s son and grandson, who have traveled from India to view the Wellin Museum of Art exhibition “Refocusing the Lens: Pranlal K. Patel's photographs of women at Work in Ahmedabad,” will take place on Wednesday, April 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the Wellin Museum. The public is invited to attend.

Huy Ho ’15 and Mandy Lin (Wong) ’15 have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad. Ho plans to study in Vietnam through the School for International Training (SIT) and Lin will study in Denmark through the Danish Institute of Study Abroad, Copenhagen.

Nathaniel Livingston ’14 and Alyson Raynor ’14, candidates for May graduation from Hamilton, have been awarded prestigious Thomas J. Watson Fellowships for 2014-15. Livingston’s project is titled “Performing Culture: Contemporary Expressions of Oral and Musical Traditions,” and  Raynor’s is “The Path of Rehabilitation and Reintegration: Exploring the Lives of Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors.”

Elisabeth MacColl ’16 has been named a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar for the 2014-15 academic year. She is among 283 scholars from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

Sam Bishop, a candidate for May graduation, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Indonesia. He is an English major at Hamilton.

Aaron Astor ’95, an associate professor of history at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn., shared his knowledge of the Civil War in Tennessee with a group of Hamilton students volunteering at the Cumberland Trail for their Alternative Spring Break trip on March 24.

Angela Gizzi ’16 has been awarded The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Korean in Wonju, Korea. Wonju is located in Gangwon Province and the Wonju campus is 30 minutes away from PyongChang, the host city of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

The Hamilton curling team made its first-ever appearance at the College Curling National Championships, held March 14-16 in Blaine, Minn. Hamilton was represented by captain Meghan Doherty ’14, Tara Huggins ’14, Josh Devinney ’15 and Jake Davidson ’15.
