As a creative writing major, Eva Lynch-Comer ’19 knows a lot about what makes a good story. This summer, she is putting that talent to good use as an intern at the Hannigan Salky and Getzler Literary Agency, a boutique agency in Chelsea, N.Y. Lynch-Comer spends her time reading manuscripts, helping to decide which works will move forward and end up published.

While some students are spending their summers working at one internship, Lillia McEnaney ’17 is engaging in five summer job opportunities, including two part-time internships that, while different, complement each other as they both focus on distinct aspects of museology. Her internship is supported by Summer 2016 Internship funding, managed by the Career Center.

If there was ever an internship tailor made for a student, Sam Bernstein ’17 has found it. Bernstein is a veteran Hamilton Outing Club member and leader who is interning this summer at Zoar Outdoor in Western Massachusetts. Zoar is an outdoor recreation company that offers guided whitewater rafting trips, zipline canopy tours, and whitewater kayaking and canoeing instruction for everyone from beginners to advanced paddlers.

Daniela Gonzalez ’19 began her first year at Hamilton with a surprising amount of experience in the medical world. While attending South Texas High School for Health Professions, a high school that specializes in preparing its students for health careers, she volunteered at a hospital and shadowed both a cardiologist and gastroenterologist. One might think she’d take a well-deserved break over her first summer, but instead she is completing not one, but two internships.

Luka Modebadze ’18 is interning this summer at TBC Bank, one of the largest universal banks in the Republic of Georgia whose activities “encompass nearly every segment, including retail, corporate, investment banking and private wealth management.” His internship is funded by the Sidney and Laura Gilbert Internship Fund, managed by the Career Center.

Alexander Baradari ’17, a neuroscience major, said that he wants to help improve the lives of individuals affected by debilitating diseases. This summer as a research intern, he is studying Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at the Rocco Ortenzio Neuroimaging Lab, part of the Select Medical Research Hospital in West Orange, N.J., in order to increase the understanding of the disease. His summer research advisor is Dr. Brian Yao.

Braden Glover ’18 is exploring whether a career connected to the environment might be right for him through his summer internship at the Fells, a private non-profit on the shores of Lake Sunapee in Newbury, N.H.  It’s located at the summer home of U.S. diplomat and statesman John Milton Hay, who served as a private secretary for President Lincoln and as Secretary of State under Theodore Roosevelt. Glover’s internship is supported by the Richard & Patsy Couper Fund, managed by the Career Center.

This summer, Ben Mittman ’18 is working at the New England Center for Children (NECC), a private, non-profit organization that accepts children with the most severe symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Mittman works at the main educational facility with other teachers, focusing on caring for the students and teaching them information and essential life skills that will help them become more independent and better transition into the community after graduation. His internship is supported by the Hamilton College Internship Fund, managed by the Career Center.

What better internship could there be for Hamilton’s former Student Assembly president than working at the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB)? Silvia Radulescu ’17 is spending her summer at the non-partisan, independent city agency whose mission is to improve campaigns and elections in the city by reducing the potential for corruption.  Radulescu’s internship is supported by the Levitt Center.

Steve Cunden ’18 has an unusual lab partner this summer. Baxter is pretty quiet and lacking personality, but he is very intelligent. Cunden is an intern at TechBridgeWorld lab at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, and Baxter, his partner, is a robot.  TechBridgeWorld, founded by Mary Bernardine Dias ’98, is a lab dedicated to bringing robotics to underdeveloped/developing countries and disadvantaged communities.
