At Hamilton’s annual Class & Charter Day convocation on May 12, 146 students received well-deserved academic prizes and scholarships, and faculty teaching award recipients were recognized. Associate Professor of Chemistry Max Majireck served as keynote speaker.

The Hamilton men’s ice hockey team etched its place in history on Sunday, March 29, earning the program’s first NCAA Division III championship. The Continentals defeated No. 1-ranked Hobart College in a 2–1 overtime thriller that brought to an end the Statesmen’s undefeated season and hopes for a fourth consecutive national title.

The Continentals defeated Hobart and William Smith in overtime when Curtiss Sturgeon ’29 scored with 3:16 left in the first sudden-victory overtime period, and lifted Hamilton to a 2-1 victory. Scott Kelsey ’93 is a vocal beneficiary — and architect — of compassionate communities. He’s the founder of Shareapy.com, a platform that connects people to therapeutic support from guided peer groups.

Winning a NESCAC championship requires a bit of travel, and climate action requires a bit of cooperation. Carson Hall ’26 and Ben Zimmerman ’26 understand this, and are doing something about it. On a Saturday in early September, the men’s hockey team planted over 50 trees in Utica. The initiative seeks to offset the emissions of athletics travel.

On May 16, a group of students, faculty, and community members gathered at Hamilton College’s Peters Observatory to witness something more than a sky tour. Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, the Hamilton men’s hockey team and Assistant Professor of Physics Adam Lark helped surprise a local teenager, Matthew, with a professional-grade telescope — his long-awaited wish.
